Fundraising
Picnic/Concert Gathering Steam and Support
Fueled by
a $2,500 seed money grant from Bank of the Sierra and
the combined energies of the Greater Springville community,
plans for a major fundraiser for the Friends of Springville
Park are gathering momentum. The event, entitled “Roundup
at River Ridge” will be held on Sunday, June
19th from noon to 8 p.m. on River Ridge Ranch along
the North Fork Tule River. A great variety of musical
talent will be on hand: Fresno’s Oklin Bloodworth
will provide a Children’s Music Hour, Jill Warren’s
Rhythm and Blues band will rock the later afternoon
and out in the meadow in the evening the sounds of Roger
Kay, Patti Torrey, the Long Riders and special guest
from One Tree Hill, Australia: Travis
List.

For popular
local vocalist Patti Torrey, making music has nothing
to do with making money or gaining fame. But that doesn't
make her any less delighted at the opportunity she's
just been presented - a chance to perform in the legendary
New York City nightclub, the Bitter End.
"In
some ways, it doesn't quite feel real yet," Torrey
said as she relaxed in a wing chair in the corner of
the formal dining room at the Springville Inn before
stepping up to the mic in the less formal cafe area
of the inn for her standing Friday night performance
date.
